Sažetak
Drilling and blasting works are performed at one of the most difficult sections of Slovenian highway (11.0-16.4 km) near Črni Kal viaduct where the cut-profile of the highway is situited on the edge of a rock-wall. A specific feature of this section of the highway is that it is placed 130 m above the village of Gabrovica with the nearest houses only 100 m away horizontally from the edge of the cut. This obviously affects the conditions for drilling and blasting works. Tthe drilling and blasting works have been carriwed out using shallow holes and small blast rounds because of the potential seismic effect on the nearest buildings and because of a high risk of the stone blocks falling off the unstable karstic rock-wall onto the nearest hoses. To protect the houses some safety construction have been built in the direction of a possible stone blocks falling- a safety ditch and a safety dam (mound). Due to the sensitive positions of the blast and the proximity of a settlement (the blasting area was situated at a high altitude above a village in the slightest shovel of the material during the blast was not permitted. In order to measure the seismic effect and to effectively protect the nearby settlement, sismic monitoring took place in order to be prepared for quick adjustements of the drilling and blasting parameters if this became necessary. The reduction of the seismic effect and air blast effects to the environments was achieved by using the millisecond electrical detonators.
