Sažetak
Capital city airports in the European countries realise traffic volume of several thousand hundred operations i.e. landings and takeoffs annually. In its Airport Planning Manual, the Interational Civil Aviation Organisation recommends that the capital city airport have at least two runways in order to avoid complete closing down of the airport in cases of aircraft accidents on the runway or the runway strip, due to repair or maintenance of the runway, removal of snow, unlawful interference in civil aviation etc. The paper analyses the current situation in traffic and the capacities of the manoeuvring areas at the European capital city airports.
