Sažetak
Introdaction:General anesthesia affects higher brain function sach as consciousness, learning and memory. Aging also influences memory mechanisms. It was researched by several different methods, but all of them were partially successful. Recall and recognition is one of memory generating mechanism. Recal and recognition are different mechanisms during memory formation. The majority of researches in anesthesiology deal with intraoperative recall of events. The aim of our study was to investigate the recognition of words before and after general anasthesia at age-different participants. Methods: 40 patients devided in two age dependent group were tested by word recognition test.Word recognition test was applied twice: 3min after reading special text (Day before general anesthesia) and 36 hours after. The testing method measures the number of recognised key word bay patient. Statistical analysis was performed by t-test and  2 test. Conclusion: Word recognition was significantly influenced by age of participants.General anesthesia does not have significant influence on word recognition test.
