Sažetak
Multiple-access broadband wireless networks are deployed for fixed and mobile applications. A wireless system solution is faced with a number of challenges such as: complex multipath time-varying propagation environment, limited availability of radio spectrum, limited energy-storage capability of batteries in portable unit, user demand for higher data rates, better voice quality, multimedia transmission and more other. In order to support mobility management functions in wireless/PCS networks and provide national and international roaming, well-defined standardised subscriber terminal numbers are required. A proposal of spectrum-efficient multiple access scheme is being developed by ACTS FRAMES projects to fulfil the requirements for terrestrial third generation mobile radio system. At the same time video communication services over radio frequency networks can become a reality. Some aspects of this problem are analysed in this paper.
