Sažetak
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of heat shock on rat embryos in different stages of their development. Rat embryos, isolated from uterus in different stages of development, were cultivated in a serum supplemented medium. They were treated with high temperature (42 0C) for five minutes and placed in a serum supplement to grow for another five hours in order to induce the synthesis of heat shock proteins (HSP). Serum was washed out and embryos in physiological solution were deposited on silica wafers and dried in vacuum. The effects were followed by means of Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The infrared spectra in transmission mode were recorded using Perkin Elmer GX spectrometer equipped with DTGS detector. The changes in spectra of control group and heat shocked group were followed in region of 1800 cm-1 to 600 cm-1 which is the region of infrared-active vibrations of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and proteins. Preliminary results show different ratio of proteins and nucleic acids of control and heat shocked group in different stages of development.
