Sažetak
The theoretical part of the paper focuses on the feeling of anxiety and its negative role in the process of foreign language learning and acquisition. It also discusses the theories and empirical findings offered by scientists about the development of foreign language anxiety, the difficulties in measuring it, its effects on foreign language learning and its possible solutions. The empirical part of the paper focuses on subjective experiences of anxiety and its sources identified by a sample of Croatian primary school students. It also tries to establish the relationship between English language anxiety and gender differences as well as its negative correlation with the students’ grades.
