Sažetak
By means of effective protection theory and concept the paper deals with foreign trade protection of the elementary agricultural products and effect analysis of foreign trade measures on added value formation for some products. Effective protection rate for elementary agricultural products in the Republic of Croatia were calculated on the basis of rates of duty , other import funds and through nominal protection rates relative to indermediar y inputs and outputs of the elementary agricultural products. Effective protection rates are negative for most of the chosen agricultural products. It means that agricultural products are taxed effectively due to nominal taxation of the intermediary inputs and nominal taxation.
