Sažetak
Literature has widely been used in EFL (English as a foreign language) teaching in language-related tasks, aimed at developing learners' linguistic competence. However, literature also coveys higher-order literature-specific meanings, contributing thereby to learners' literary competence. The author uses examples of children's literature to demonstrate how it can be employed in EFL teaching to various age groups, including adults. While the potentials of literature can be beneficial to EFL teaching in several aspects, using literature also has a value in itself.
