Sažetak
Development of harmonized pan-European (Intelligent) transport and communication networks are strongly correlated with further development and deployment of 3G and B3G mobile systems. In this paper we have considered the present technological and services perspective of 3G and beyond 3G mobile communications system from the teletraffic system engineer's and customer's point of view. The European efforts in 3G (known as UMTS) together with other air-interface proposals are now members of the IMT 2000 family. ITU vision requirements and expectations about global growth of mobile subscribers have been discusses. New "killer applications" can be video clips and content oriented services such as pre-trip and on-trip information, location of a hotel, weather bulletins, etc. New concepts of personal mobility and new service paradigm include network of self-organized wireless devices and embedded intelligence.
