Sažetak
The paper deals with the teacher's explanatory behaviour with regard to grammar issues. The theoretical part of the paper deals with grammar teaching and grammar explanations from the perspective of different approaches and methods as well as with the procedures and techniques for grammar teaching. The aim of the practical part of the paper is to analyse the sample of classroom recordings which cover teacher grammar explanations and to find the presence of different explanatory techniques. Special attention is paid to the use of the mother tongue. This part also brings the results of a questionnaire which was submitted to teachers. The aim of the questionnaire was to find out teachers' attitudes towards different practices in grammar teaching. The obtained results are discussed and implications for the teaching practice are made.
