Sažetak
The paper deals with the relationship between theory and practice in foreign language ( FL ) teacher education. The nature of teacher preparation is discussed from the perspective of the competences required of the modern language teacher.Possible approaches to teacher preparation in terms of practices in FL teacher preparation are pointed out. Based on the results of a questionnaire students' attitudes towards the practices in FL teacher education are discussed. The paper ends with an attempt to formulate the principles that should lie behind the FL teacher education
