Sažetak
The diploma paper is on measuring communicative competence at the end of secondary education based on reading and listening skills. The first part presents a theoretical background to measuring communicative competence. The concept of testing in teaching foreign languages is also being discussed here as well as various kinds of test types and testing techniques. The second part of the diploma paper is about a part of an extensive research project on communicative competence at the end of secondary education based on reading and listening skills. The result of the study will be presented and discussed and then will be compared to an overall measure of communicative competence, which is measured by students' final grades in English. The aim is to find out if there is or is not a correlation between English language school grades and the results on the reading and listening tests.
