Sažetak
The presentation illustrates and contextualizes the uses of the Web in the transitional society of Croatia. It discusses various traits of contemporary Croatian society, as represented in a selection of locally operated Web portals, some of which were launched as early as 1997. The topics discussed include the ownership and revenue generation strategies of the individual portals, as well as an analysis of their content. The analyzed sample includes general-interest (broad-reach) and niche portals, Web pages with political content, and a selection of commercial Web sites, predominantly those advertising tourist services.
