Sažetak
The seawater has over few curative characteristics, some of them being common knowledge (antiseptic action). The most widespread use is to prevent and treat upper respiratory tract disorders, since seawater contains mineral salts and a great number of oligoelements. The concentration of inorganic ions in seawater varies. Thus, it is important to monitor the composition of the seawater by chemical analysis. Applications of ion chromatography to the analysis of real samples like drinking water, serum, fermentation broth, etching baths and apple vinegar have been described, but most reports deal with the analysis of samples that consists of a number of elements with similar concentrations. Baseline separation of the peaks is quite easily achieved in such systems and detection limits are low (ppb levels). However, these conditions are rarely found in real samples, and certainly not in seawater. For some cases of complex separation even the application of computer assisted optimization strategy involving retention modeling can be required. The aim of this work is development of ion chromatographic application for monitoring of inorganic ions in seawater in order to be applicable for routine analysis in quality control laboratory of OTC nasal spray production. Type of analytical column, eluent flow rate, concentration of eluent competing ions and volume of sample loop was determined in order to enable baseline separation of all components of interest. The performance characteristics of developed method were tested by performing the foul validation procedure and number of statistical tests.
