Sažetak
The concetration of six million tourists in time and space that belong to the most attractive coastal part of the Mediterranean area - a major world tourism destination is a great load to carry and a threat to the devastation of the surrounding and pollution of the environment. Bearing in mind the importance the hotel industry has for the development of Mediterranean it is necessary to optimally plan and synchronies on time all elements of the tourism offer with a special accent on the preservation of natural and tourism resources.
The Mediterranean area of which Croatia is also a part has to preserve valuable tourism resources by protecting the environment.
The implementation and application of measures that will reduce pollution and sanify environment damages is mainly carried out by developed countries in the world. However, to efficiently carry out any action, it is necessary that besides the Mediterranean countries other countries participate as well.It is our opinion that the success of joint action lies in the fact that pollution may not be stopped by state borders.Efficient results may be achieved only if measures and actions are carried out in all Mediterranean countries. The actual conflicts of ecological, space and infrastructural character present in the major tourism oriented countries of the Mediterranean are the main reason why authors of this study focuse on the protection measures of the Mediterranean area. In order to avoid such negative tourism experiences, further topics focused in this study continue to deal with protection measures and preservation of this area for a future quality development of tourism and other economy activities.
