Sažetak
A total of 270 specimens of sprat S. sprattus were analysed. Samples were taken from purse seine commercial catches during September 2000 and 2002. Some meristic and morphometric characters were analysed. Total lengths of analysed specimens ranged from 7.7 to 15.0 cm, with mean values 9.85 cm(SD=1.133) and modal length of 9.5 cm (44.81%). Weight of analysed specimens ranged from 4.03 to 23.05 g, with mean value of 7.59 g (SD=3.452). The parameters of the length-weight relationship are: a=0.0168 and b=2.6535 (r2=0.8109). The exponent b value differs considerably from 3.0 and denotes negative allometric growth of the sprat from this region. The highest condition coefficient was established in specimens of length groups from 7.5 to 8.5 cm and in groups of 12.5 and 13.0 cm. Sprat specimens of intermediate lengths showed the lowest condition coefficient.
