Sažetak
From June 1999 to the end of 2003, 193 cochlear implants were implanted at our clinic, all under operative telemetry. Nucleus R 126 software with interface was used in 68 implantees. A group of 35 implantees was observed who had Neural Response Telemetry (NRT) done as well. In 23% of implantations, we failed in observing the Electrically Elicited Stapedial Reflex (EESR), but there was not a single implantee without any Electrically Evoked Compound Action Potential (ECAP), at least on some of the tested electrodes. Only 2/8 patients who had no EESR showed unfavourable NRT results. Out of all the tested electrodes, only 4% showed no ECAP. There were no "open circuits" marks on the electrodes with either missing EESR or ECAP. No obvious explanation was found for most patients without EESR or ECAP. It is concluded that intraoperative telemetry should include all the stated measurements and that it is a fast and reliable method of gathering important data about the implant and its coupling with the recipient.
