Sažetak
Parents are the most influential adults in children development and certainly play an important role in sport career of their offspring (Brustard, 1993). For estimation of the level of parents' care and control (authoritative parenting style) the Parental Care in Sport Questionnaire was constructed (Bosnar, 2003). The questionnaire consists of 24 items for assessing parents' beliefs and behaviors related to their children's sport. At the first application, the questionnaire showed good metric characteristics with reliability coefficient  =0.85  The aim of this research is to check metric properties of the Parental Care in Sport Questionnaire on another sample of high school students. The subjects of this research were 234 students of Sport high school from Zagreb, i.e. all the students who attended classes at the week of measurement (91.8% of total number). Sample included 171 male and 63 female students of all four grades. Each student attending Sport high school is the athlete engaged in competitive sport. The subjects were given Parental Care in Sport Questionnaire (Bosnar, 2003) consisting of 24 items with answers on five-point scale. The reliability of questionnaire as well as item characteristics were established. Metric characteristics of the Parental Care in Sport Questionnaire obtained on the sample of Sport high school students are satisfactory. The only item having inadequately low values is number 7 regarding money expense, and this is the only item that should be removed.
