Sažetak
Progesterone concentrations of human placentas exposed to cadmium by cigarette smoking and progesterone production of rat placentas exposed to cadmium during pregnancy were evaluated. It was found in both smoking women and cadmium exposed dams an increased placental cadmium concentrations and decreased progesterone concentrations and production. The results suggest that pregnancy outcome and foetal viability may be at risk due to increased maternal cadmium exposure.
