Sažetak
The event selection in the CMS Trigger occurs in two stages or levels: the Level 1 Trigger and the High Level Trigger (HLT). The High Level Trigger's task consists in reducing the Level 1 output rate of 100 kHz to 100 Hz while keeping the maximum possible physics selectivity. The CMS High Level Trigger will be implemented on a farm of commercial PCs which will analyze event reconstructing complete LHC collision events. The requirements and architecture of the CMS HLT are described, as well as the strategy for taking a fast decision, using an efficient steering of the various selection algorithms and partial event reconstruction. The first draft of the trigger table and its efficiency for various physics channels and CPU requirement is shown.
