Sažetak
The search for the Higgs boson is one of the most important goals of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The decay channel $H \to ZZ^* \to 4\mu$ stands out by its clean signature in the detector. The ATLAS detector, with its high-precision muon spectrometer, is optimized for the muon detection. The expected performance and properties of the ATLAS muon spectrometer, observed in the testbeam studies, have been taken into account in an updated simulation of the process $pp \to H \to 4\mu$ and the corresponding background processes. The ATLAS disovery potential for this channel was determined in this way.
