Sažetak
The scientific project « ; ; Register and preventive programs for accidents and injuries» ; ; was initiated in Koprivnica in April 1991. This community was chosen as a study area, because the medical team from the Institute of Public Health has been observing the trends of trauma in this area since 1979. Injury register started in 1992 and was located in Emmergency and Surgical unit of the General hospital in Koprivnica city. A structured questionnaire « ; ; Injury Form» ; ; was designed. The Register comprised all injured peoplewho live and were injured in Koprivnica community. This study presents 7.987 registered injured people during the period 1998-2001 most of them had un-intentional injury 97.7%. It was found almost an equal ratio between male 62%: female 38% in the each of the four study years. The highest percentage of injured people is in the age groups: 0-14 yrs.(25.7%) and 30-49 yrs.(25.7%). Distribution by age and gender: females mostly in the age: 0-14 yrs. (25.5%) ; males mostly in the age: 30-49 yrs. (28.7%). Males are more frequenlly injured than females up to the age of 49. The age group 65-79 shows the biggest difference between genders: female 15.9% : male 5.9%. The highest frequency of non-fatal injuries was found in residential area 4.854 (61.5%) ; male56.1% : female 43.9%.
