Sažetak
Tourism resource base is essential in the process of tourism planning, development and management. The key components of tourism research base are potential and real tourism attractions, which, ultimately, determine the structure of the final tourism products of destination. Given such importance of tourism attraction base it is necessary to identify, catalogue and evaluate each existing and potential attraction available at a destination. In order for an attraction to be included in the formation of tourism product, or protected from devastation or inappropriate use, it is of the uppermost importance to develop a functional classification system. An original method for such classification is developed in functional classification of tourism attraction. The aim of this paper is to present this classification as a multidimensional system suitable for: a) managing documentation of the potential and real tourism attractions (identification, record keeping, evaluation and access to information to a variety of stakeholders ; b) marketing and development and c) efficient protection of tourism attractions from degradation and inappropriate use.
