Sažetak
Decarboxylation of aliphatic amino acids in aqueous solutions initiated by ^.OH radical was studied by means of pulse and steady-state radiolysis. At pH>7 the initially formed N-centered radical cation was found to undergo decarboxylation and acid/base equilibration. The decarboxylation is a very fast process, k > 10^8 s^-1 as measured for glycine at pH 11. Yields of CO_2 were dependent on pH and the proton-donoring capacity of the system.
