Sažetak
Behaviour of power electronic circuits can be simulated at different complexity and accuracy levels, depending on the aim of simulation and used component models in circuit simulator. Simulation of power electronic circuits is required in analysis and design process, as well as in the education of Power electronics. For fast introduction into power circuit behaviour it is not necessary to use complex model of power electronic switch (IGBT, SCR etc.). Simple, ideal switch model will do. Also at the system level investigation it is often adequate to represent power switch within converter by more or less ideal switch. Going deeper into converter, e.g. when exact dissipation on power switches of converter is needed, more complex models of power switches are required, describing accurately voltage-current relations in power electronic switch during conduction, turn-on and turn-of.
Simulator of power electronic circuits and systems should be able to provide the user wide choice of power switch complexity levels. It is on the user to choose appropriate model for his simulation task. The aim of the paper is comparative description of power switch model that can be used in SIMPLORER, with benchmark tests performed on simple chopper model. Speed of simulation and quantity and accuracy of obtained information are compared.
