Sažetak
This paper presents the selected research conducted throughout the 1995-2001 period in order to assess the role of Mediterranean forests in view in Croatian coastal tourism. That role has been firstly assessed through the position of forests in view among other factors of coastal destination attractiveness, investigated through the extensive survey among tourists, and, secondly, by the application of Hedonic Price method in order to assess the elasticity of hotel room rates due to increase of forests in view. The results pointed out tourists’ attitudes/perception of coastal landscape as very important factor in tourist destination attractiveness, but also that the individual importance of forests in view in destination attractiveness was not stated. On the contrary, the quantitative analysis resulted with a significant correlation between the “ amount” of forests in view visible from hotel and the hotel room rates.
