Sažetak
This paper analyses the tourist offer and tourist demand to determine their joint impact on increasing consumption. The basic objective of this paper is to find ways of approximating offer and demand in order to achieve optimum consumption. The paper argues the hypothesis that optimum consumption can be obtained by adjusting the offer to meet the requirements of tourists. To prove this hypothesis, the paper examines the current structure of the tourist offer in the case of the Istria County and the opportunities for adjusting the offer to impact directly and indirectly on the increase of consumption. The paper’ s results and conclusions are theoretical and applicational in character. Research conducted regarding the offer, the demand and their joint impact on increasing tourist consumption is a theoretical contribution to the knowledge of tourism. The research results can also be applied in coordinating the offer and the demand to optimise tourist consumption.
