Sažetak
Since 19th century scientists have been trying to correlate economy and physics. Lately it has grown into a new science field called econophysics which makes heavy use of mathematical tools taken from statistical physics. One of many problems econophysicists take interest in is distribution of money. Our data for statistical models has been taken from a telephone poll conducted in 1998 (on little more than 3000 families), containing annual income (annual wages and pensions) and number of adults per familly. We noticed that most of our data (95% of all data!) follows an exponential distribution, which can be characterized by defining corresponding temperature of economy1. Therefore we defined and calculated “ temperature of the Croatian economy” . The remaining data points, corresponding to larger incomes, follow a power-law distribution characterized by Pareto's exponential2. At last, we defined and calculated the threshold (crossover) income with which one passes into the “ higher middle class” 3 - a break-point between the two distributions. We compared our results with similar analysis for USA, Great Britain4 and Japan5. [1] A. Drăgulescu, V.M.
