Sažetak
We first discuss a simple proof of a theorem classifying finite 2-groups which do not possess a normal elementary abelian subgroup of order 8. (From this theorem follows as a direct corollary the famous four-generator theorem of A. R. Mac Williams). All results (with proofs and much more details) are also to be found in the book of Y. Berkovich, Groups of prime power order, I, II, and III (with Z. Janko), (2005).
