Sažetak
The essence of telemedicine is a real-time, interactive communication, which enables exchange of multimedia information. Quality, reliability and security issues impose rigid requirements on underlying telecommunications infrastructure. The initial phase of the CITS development demonstrated a solution of video communications segment. For the economic reasons this solution was entirely based on ISDN technology. Considerations about future development of the system, in a broader sense, include seamless migration to IP/MPLS VPN. This multiservice network, as the communications core, will fully support implementation of data, voice and video services.
