Sažetak
Inflation is a very complex social and economic phenomenon. It affects almost everybody in almost every country. At the same time, this issue has not been fully comprehended in the economic literature, especially its possibility to be used as a model to finance economic growth. Therefore, this paper examines some of the questions connected to the problem of inflation and economic growth in the Republic of Croatia. This paper gives the results of analysis of macro indicators and their interrelation from which the conclusions of the research have been drawn. The emphasis was on the analysis of inflation trends in Croatia but in regards to globalisation processes in its surrounding. When we speak about macroeconomic policy, it is not enough just to study its influence on only one indicator or to put in the interrelation two indicators and analyse how they influence one another, but it is necessary to overview the complete situation and foresee the consequences of certain macro policy on the society as a whole, in short and long run. It is necessary to comprehend the consequences of simultaneous application of more measures, which can change the situation, its intensity as well as its direction. That is the reason why this paper analyses, besides the change of prices, also other macroeconomic indicators like unemployment and employment, real GDP, money supply and the complete influences of the measures which have been taken, on the total economic growth of the Republic of Croatia. This is a short overview of money and economic trends in the Euro zone because the policy of a country takes place in a given social and political environment and for Croatia that environment is primarily the European Union. This paper gives evaluation of the economic policy in the Republic of Croatia since 1990, with its main goal to bring Croatia closer to Euro-Atlantic integrations. It also gives evaluation of possible trends, but under the condition that the same policy continues.
