Sažetak
The scaling up strategy is traditionally based on general principles of chemical engineering. A chemical engineer is concerned with the industrial implementation of processes were important parameters depend on mass, heat and momentum transfer. Since these processes are scale dependent, scaling up often presents serious problems which can frequently be avoided by the aid of partial similarity. One of the methods of obtaining equations for predicting mass-transfer coefficients is the use of dimensionless analysis. Dimensional analysis predicts the various dimensionless parameters which are helpful in correlating experimental data. The article shows how dimensionless groups can be applied to scale up by combining them with the principle of similarity.
