Sažetak
The impact of the recent socio/cultural heritage on the media perception of science in Croatia is very strong in the period from political changes in 1990. until now, despite some minor improvements. The authors use the method of content analysis of Croatian newspapers, and comparison with the indicators of socio/political assessment of the role of science in society (allocation for science and higher education, statements of high state officials, incomes in science etc). The results indicate that media perception of science, its importance and image created by the media, highly depends on the place of science in society defined by socio/cultural heritage.
