Sažetak
I will present the enzyme problem in general, give a few examples of diseases correlated with (inadequate) specificity of enzymes, introduce lipases as enzymes that stereoselectively catalyse reactions, stress importance of such catalysis for production of drugs, explain how stereoselectivity could be changed (and reversed), and how we approach this problem by molecular modeling. Enzyme, protein enzyme = a protein that functions as a catalyst. In living organisms they have indispensable role as biocatalysts. Without them biochemical reactions in every cell would be too slow to sustain life.
