Sažetak
In this study we tested hypothesis weather training consisting stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) actions alters leg stiffness in humans. Forty physical education students volunteered in this study. They were randomly assigned into 1) plyometric group (PG, n = 20), and 2) control group (CG, n = 20). During a 10 wk period PG performed 30 training sessions consisting of drop jumps. Each subject performed two-legged hopping for maximum height on a force platform at the begining and at the end of the experiment. The stiffness of the leg spring was was calculated using a half-period method (McMahon and Cheng, 1990). The main fidnings indicated that that a plyometric training significantly (P < 0.01) increased leg stiffness and concurrently shortened ground contact time (P < 0.01). Therefore, conclusion is that plyometric training improves leg stiffness primarly by improving the central motor program responsible for the regulation of muscle-tendon stiffness.
