Sažetak
Notwithstanding the need to take previous research and theories of international migration and ethnic relations into consideration, transnational perspective and the concept of diaspora as a heuristic device are useful in research concerning various aspects of migration-related processes, as well as in reconsidering the notion of integration. Ethnological research could benefit from using the concept of diasporic, rather than ethnic, community. It may help to avoid the danger of imposing inaccurate ethnological interpretations of "ethnic communities", as if they existed before and beyond the theoretical assumptions about them.
