Sažetak
The paper presents necessary procedures for the selection of pilot nodes in the electric power system. The emphasis is put on the definition of automatic secondary var control zones. The method of defining the borders of control zones according to the electrical distances is explained by the reduction of electric power system to two nodes. The described method has been applied to the electric power system of Croatian Electric Power Utility (HEP) and the results obtained are presented i. e. the pilot nodes were selected and control zones defined for the existing electric power network of Croatia.
