Sažetak
A-Hydroxy substituent effects upon carbocation stabilities may be measured as a difference in pKa values for the protonation of alkenes and enols. We may derive a-hydroxy substituent effects upon aromatic pKas by mesurement pf pKas for protonation of models for keto form of some phenols. On this basis we predict a-hydroxy substituent effect on the group of aromatic carbocations.
