Sažetak
The aim of this investigation is to find out whether th eultrasound treatment of the fibres enahnces oligomer migration, and to establish the conditions under wich such a treatment could be used as a pretretment for reducing the amount of oligomers in the fibre. Ultrasounr waves are used as an energy source that causes the macromolecules in the fibre mobility. We can suppose that mobility will grow much more with the small molecules of oligomers, and that they will migrate to the surface of the fibre and further on to the medium the fibre is placed in. Thus a part of the oligomers could be eliminated from the fibre. The investigations conducted werw aimed at defining optimal processing parameters for reducing the amount of oligomers in the fibre. Investigations described indicate the possibility of partially eliminating oligomers from polyester fibres using ultrasound treatment. The best results are achived employing water as a medium for ultrasound treatment, which is both enviromentally and financially highly acceptable. In the conditions tested, around 12% of the total amount of oligomers can be eliminated. Further investigations will show important this is for enhancing the fibre processibility.
