Sažetak
The paper analyses the relative efficiency of the use of main economic resources (technology, knowledge and capital) in transition and EU countries, related with their trade performance. The first step of the DEA analysis shows that only Hungary, among transition countries, achieved relative efficiency. Croatia's efficiency is 0.42 i.e. Croatia has approximately 42% of the "best" countries' efficiency. According to these results, Ireland has the greatest frequency to the other countries(17) and Hungary is ranked as the second one (13). By reducing the number of inputs to two and the number of outputs to only one, the efficiency score is somewhat different with Greece, Hungary and Ireland as still relatively efficient countries. This change can be explained by relatively low values of inputs (resources) for Greece and high value of output for Ireland and Hungary.
