Sažetak
The role of fabrics for upholstering automobiles and other means of conveyance was investigated. The most significant properties of natural hide as an independent upholstering product and in the combination with lined materials on the back side were investigated. It was found out that natural leather disposes of good properties for the application in upholstering car seats. Owing to its durability with high strength and elasticity it increases in value relative to other upholstering products. In relation to woven fabrics and nonwovens it has the advantage over other products because it does not change its appearance and shape. Owing to comfort, price and design fabrics lined with a nonwoven fabric provide an advantage. Samples with a combination of leather, polyurethane sponge and fabric had the best results for upholstering car seats. Due to a complex manufacture and higher costs such a sample is built in that seat section where the highest stresses and abrasion occur. It is where the body comes into contact with the seat.
