Sažetak
Injection of technological wastes (generated during drilling oil and gas wells, and production of oil and gas) in deep geologic formations is frequently repeated idea in Republic of Croatia. That concept is given in "National Waste Management Strategy" (ANDRIČEVIĆ et al., 2003). A subsurface disposal of waste, as large national project, is in the phase of scientific and professional evaluation in this moment in Croatia. Natural geological variability is one of the most important controls on fluid transport in the subsurface. The importance of geology in published waste management studies in Croatia has been underestimated. There are several geological disciplines, which have to be included in any waste disposal study. Importance of having complex geologic model is to have the most accurate prediction of the various processes. Those ones occurring from the injection of the waste, to the point when waste is no longer threat to USDW (Underground Sources of Drinking Water). The techniques, concepts and computer software used in maximizing hydrocarbon production from existing fields should be used for geologic model building. It is obvious that INA Naftaplin, as national petroleum company with long experience, is the most competent subject in this process. Description of methods and tools used in Development department of INA-Naftaplin is given in paper. From similar experiences worldwide, there is proposal of the specialized geology investigations related to waste disposal.
