Sažetak
The aim of this work was to explore relationship of milking flow rate and somatic cell count to the health of bovine udders. The results of the research made on 220 Holstein- Friesian cows have shown that the minimum linear score of somatic cell counts (LSCC = 2.78 to 3.81) was in the milk of those cows that have had maximum milking rate from 2.7 to 4.5 kg/min. The reasons could be found in the width of a teat channel and the strength of a sphincter of the peak teat that have made the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms into the udders impossible. Correlation coefficient between LSCC and maximum milk rate flow for the first and the second lactation were positive (0.06 and 0.14) but for the third one were nega-tive and, therefore, statistically important (-0.07*). The highest positive and statistically significant correlation was found between average rate of milk flow and LSCC (p<0.001) in the first lactation group (0.40).
