Sažetak
Reduction of mine suspected to actually mined area is prerequisite for successful and cost-effective demining operation. Trace explosive detection is approved as the most efficient reduction method. Currently dog is extensively using as a detector of explosive particles or vapour. Dogs are the best-known explosive detectors, but they need excessive training and as a life form are inherently unreliable. Detector using similar detection procedure will have potential to significantly improve security and speed of demining operation. This paper analyzes existing technologies and ongoing trace explosive detection projects and their potential for humanitarian demining.
