Sažetak
Hazardous areas are present in refineries, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, power plants, petrol stations, platforms and many other industries. Wherever it's possible, electrical apparatus should be mounted outside hazardous areas. If not so, adequate selection of explosion protected electrical apparatus and their proper installation is of the vital importance for people health in the plant, safety of the plant itself and its environment. This paper describes the conditions for explosion initiation as well as danger zones. Guidelines for selection of electrical apparatus for hazardous areas are given. Intrinsic safety categories and safe electrical apparatus as well as their installation are discussed.
