Sažetak
Development of the contemporary information and communication technologies (IT) and geographic information systems (GIS) changes the shape of particular markets. There are radical changes both in market relations and in the logistics of production and in the logistics of distribution. Changes in the formation of distribution systems also reflect on the changes in retail systems, especially on the territorial placement of shops. In this paper, the author considers the influence of modern IT and GIS on the new formation of retail operating units. Conceptions about such development trends are also significant for the Republic Of Croatia in which there is strong development of the forms of large-area retail operating units.
