Sažetak
The policy and health policy context in SEE makes priority setting a necessary step to ensure the efficient use of public funds for health. The percentage of gross domestic product spent on health is high in some of the countries however insufficient and many cost-effective interventions are currently neglected, under-funded or provided with low quality standards. Overall future system of priorities setting in health care in the SEE should be driven by new democratic values and must be population-centered and sensitive to inequalities, unemployment, and social poverty. In order to translate objectives into concrete actions, actions are built on the regional dialogue, which has been promoted through the active participation of SEE countries representatives’ lead by the World Health Organisation and the Council of Europe. Future interventions in this field will focus on strengthening public health, improving primary health delivery, mental health, and food and nutrition safety standards. Specifically it will be ameliorate the capacity of health personnel as well as public health infrastructure. Based on an inter-country co-operation new training programmes and curricula will be developed while creating modern teaching and training resources. Relative legislation will be amended to comply with European Union standards. Another prioritised area where inter-regional co-operation is crucial to achieve results is to improve surveillance and control of communicable diseases. Finally, to train professionals in the media sector will enable governments to conduct unbiased information campaigns.
