Sažetak
The paper reports on the influence of transmission kinematics on the efficiency in steering. For that purpose, a steering zone which quantifies the steering kinematics of a transmission is defined, and a method for establishing an available zone for steering which indicates the limits imposed by the available power of a vehicle and its characteristics is presented. A comparison between them gives a notion of the compatibility of transmission kinematics with the vehicle, which is evaluated by the extent of the usable part of the efficiency characteristic of the turning mechanism, named operating efficiency in steering. The paper also presents two mechanical solutions of transmissions for tracked vehicles, each of them representing a specific way for improving the compatibility of transmission kinematics with the vehicle, i.e. for increasing the operating efficiency in steering. One of these solutions represents a new transmission concept named Transmission with Independent Turning Radii (TITR).
