Sažetak
Since its discovery in 1967, the crown ethers play an important role in a number of areas in chemistry and serve as synthetic receptors for organic and inorganic cations. Many different modifications of the crown ethers, such as changing the ring size and the kind of substituents, have been made in order to find molecules with superior properties. An extension of crown ether chemistry is found in the case of criptands. These macrobicyclic ligands are capable of ion encapsulation due to their cage - like structures. We report the synthesis of two novel cryptands with the adamantyl system incorporated in the molecule.
