Sažetak
The Mesihovina - Rakitno sedimentary basin is situated in the middle part of the Karst Dinarides. Its evolution may be followed through the Eocene and Oligocene age. The basin is filled up by the typical molasse-like deposits, being in unconformable position in relation of the different Upper Cretaceous limestones. In general it is consists of an alternation of silty marls and carbonate conglomerates. Vertical and lateral changes are frequent. Unconformity with the underlying limestones is characterized by bauxite deposits placed in negative forms on a karstified paleorelief. Gravel flows are often directed by morphology of the basinal bootom. Accumulation of significant quantities of gravel, tectonic shocks and gravitation caused underwater sliding, i.e. movement (mass-flow) of accumulated material along steep and short slopes into basin. The conglomerate bodies, whose shape and size depend upon quantity of material and shape of the paleodepression and distrubutional channels, as well. Proceeding phase is calm with long lasting sedimentation of silty marls. The whole process - intensive progradation - is repeated rhythmically with thickness of a rhythm of 10-20 m.
